eDiets Review

For: Wednesday, January 07, 2009

Let me start off by saying that I believe it's best to first speak to your doctor and try to lose weight on your own.

However, some people need a little coaching or perhaps they operate best with a more structured plan to help them lose weight and stay focused. If this is you, then you may benefit from a program like eDiets.

I wish we could get away from the word "diet", but I understand why they use it. It's a recognizable buzz word that the public has grown accustomed to and it gets their attention. When people see "diet" they know it means weight loss.

However, we really should just be focusing on moving away from that word and just adopting "new eating habits". So despite their name, "eDiets", they really do focus on changing your eating lifestyle permanently.

Instead of having you count points like the Weight Watchers system or starving yourself like some of the other diets, eDiets teaches you how to eat right for the rest of your life so you keep the weight off.

What's even better is that they understand that different people need different kinds of eating and fitness plans. I get emails all the time from people asking what they should be eating.

I'm no fitness trainer or dietician and I do admit that the information on this site is very general. That's mainly because it's very hard to speak to everyone's needs at once.

I try to cover the bases by providing information that everyone can use despite their individual battles. However, in some cases people still need one on one attention.

That's the great thing about eDiets. Since they are in the business of helping people lose weight, they take the time to understand each individual and they tailor each weight loss plan to fit every person.

eDiets understands that everyone's body, metabolism, age, etc. are different. What works well for someone may not work as well for another based upon their body characteristics, health, goals, etc.

They also provide great information on setting realistic goals for yourself. I can't tell you how many emails I get from people trying to lose 20 pounds in a month or less. That's not realistic, nor is it healthy.

eDiets doesn't try to give you false hope or make you think you can lose the weight overnight. Remember, slow and steady weight loss means solid, long-term effects if you continue to eat healthy and exercise.
